Unlike other ESD testers where you’re stuck with factory test settings, the ELITE tester allows you to enter your own settings for both footwear and wrist straps via a push-button keypad. Test ranges for footwear can be tailored anywhere from 500k-1000k (Lo) and 1.0M-1.3G (Hi), while wrist straps can be customized within the range of 500k-1000k (Lo) and 1.0M-50M (Hi). The unit’s large 3″ backlit LCD displays the actual test resistance for either single or dual-wire wrist straps, as well as both right and left foot heel grounders,individually. Bright, 4-color LEDs indicate either pass(green), fail (red), about to fail (yellow), or idle state(blue). There’s also an audible alarm that sounds when test fails. Built-in variable test resistance (VTR)technology displays a threshold graph that visuallycompares test results against allowable test parameters.This allows the worker to monitor their ESD heel grounds and wrist straps from test to test, while warning of equipment in danger of future failure. With VTR software calibration, you simply flash the ELITE tester to spec. There’s no need for screwdrivers, dip switches or default tests to get within OEM spec. You also never have to send the tester back to the manufacturer and wait weeks for factory calibration. Once set, calibration specifications and custom test parameters will display on the screen. ELITE tester features a 30-volt DC test circuit to ensure accuracy and reliability. Most ESD testers on the market today send out only 9V which is fine for ESD wrist straps, but shaky at best for ESD shoes and heel grounders. On ESD footwear, dirt and other contaminates can build up over usage and cause resistance to go up. Testing at a higher voltage allowsthe ELITE to easily cut through the increased resistance and perform tests safely and accurately.
